Making SWAT look like SWAT

I am Trispast, and my task as a developer has been creating 3d models for use in the game. This is the first game I have worked on, and I am still in the process of learning the techniques. I am pretty much teaching myself how to 3d model, while making these. Basically I get all the hard work while Shooper just uncomments code :) (Shooper doesn't just uncomment code, he works very hard to make the game enjoyable)
For those of you that haven't been playing long, this is what the first release of the game looked like. Every character is just a color pallet swap of the others, no gun models existed, and the crates consisted of barrels and urns from dota 2.

Don't get me wrong these models are very well made, probably better than what I have made, but they don't have the right feel for swat either. One of the first tasks I worked on was the creation of custom weapons and crates, which is already in game. All of a sudden it was much easier to guess classes just by the in game appearance.

There are still some issues though, the officer model isn't ours, and you can't differentiate between armor types. The colors look a bit faded and washed out, and metalic parts don't shine. The picture below shows a few of the projects I have been working on lately. The Large Assault Droid (LAD) is no longer just a brown marine, and the light armor demo I am using has a much more distinct look, with more vibrant colors. Each armor class now has a distinct shape, hopefully this will prevent people from assuming my light armor Heavy Ordinence (HO) is a tank!

The next major patch should include the new models! And there are more improvements coming in the future!
I look forward to seeing you all in game,
Trispast
